English Translation
I used to go into the forest all the time with my Dad; to dam off a branch of the river, to fish with hooks or barbasco (plant that stuns fish). I used to go out in the forest a lot.
So one time my father and I went by canoe to Atalla River. We went fishing.
When we went fishing, my father took yuyo from the palms to make maytos with the fish.
We fished to make maytos. When suddenly we saw the kingfisher dive into the river river.
Poor thing, it missed the fish so he was sad. “Look!”, my father said. He is watching us from the top of that branch. \
That kingfisher is hungry. He was just about to catch one but it escaped!" My Dad said.
So then I took a fish that I had caught and put it on a log across the creek. After I left it there the kingfisher dove and ate it with a jab.
So it was true that he was sad because he had been hungry and about to catch a fish. So I gave (a fish) to the kingfisher.
