Prunus debilis

Syndi yura

Prochilodus nigricans_edited.jpg

This member of the cherry family flourishes in riverine and island environments. Its leaves can be used for fish poison. They are also placed in chicken nests to drive away chicken lice. The community of Syndi on the banks of the Napo between Puerto Napo and Venecia is named after these trees.
