Bélgica Dagua, who serves as a Kichwa language teacher and traditional knowledge expert at Iyarina will study English at BYU in Utah for semester each year over the 4 year period of the Title VI Nation Resource Center grant. During that time she will also assist Dr. Janis Nuckolls with Kichwa instruction at BYU. Bélgica is fluent in Kichwa, Achuar/Shiwiar, and Spanish. Learning English, her fourth language, will greatly improve her ability to work with American students at Iyarina
